Children's Japanese Tea Ceremony
Bell Arts Youth Programs and Tea by the Sea will be co-sponsoring a Children's Japanese Tea Ceremony August 23 from 10-12 at the Bell Arts Factory, 432 North Ventura Avenue, Harrison Street patio area.
Mme. Fumi Akutagawa, renowned Tea Teacher from the Edo Senke Chanoyu School of Tea, and her students will present the Tea Ceremony to the participants.
This will be a second in a series of summer classes based on Asian Art, including origami paper folding and the making of ceramic tea bowls. The first class will take place on Saturday, July 12, from 10-12 a.m. when the children will work on making their own ceramic tea bowls. Michele Foster, the Director of the Youth Art Programs at Bell Arts, and Cindy Yoshitomi, Proprietor of Tea by the Sea, are working together on this series of Children's Asian Art Experiences. There is no fee, but in order to plan well for the Tea Ceremony, we would appreciate it if you would let us know the number of adults and children who plan to attend.
To sign up, please contact Cindy Yoshitomi at 805-804-6637.
